So, I don’t know if you know this or not but I am a total Jesus girl. God is amazing and I truly believe that He is the fuel for what I’m doing here and what you guys are doing out there in the world. All that to say I just finished a 21-day fast with my church and I took it upon myself to revisit my favorite books of the Bible – Romans and James! And y’all I was so encouraged these 21 days! God spoke some challenging words to me through His word and I wanted to share that challenge with you!
So, faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder. Do you want to be shown, you senseless person, that faith apart from works is barren?Was not our ancestor Abraham justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was brought to completion by the works.
James 2:17-23
Ya’ll FAITH MOVES!
Yup! Faith moves. Have you heard of that story about Abraham? He took his son up a mountain to sacrifice because God told him to! This was his only son, the same son that God told him will make him a father of nations. Abraham obeyed God even when it didn’t make any sense at all. He believed that something was going to happen on that mountain so he went. Him moving with faith brought completion. There was a ram right there ready for him and he son was spared!
If I say that I have faith and I have no works to back it up then I truly don’t have any faith at all. It’s not that I work for my faith but my works prove my faith. I say I have faith to lose 10 pounds but I eat all of the ice cream out of my carton every night. My actions don’t match my faith. I say I want to be a millionaire by 50 years old, but I have the latest and greatest car, all the best clothes, and I’m up to my eyeballs in debt. My faith does not match my actions.
Our faith can’t just be words, it has to make some moves. When we say we want something we can pray for it or “manifest” it (don’t get me started there haha!) but if there are no actions behind it we can’t expect anything to happen!
