So, I like cake.  It’s a problem that, you know, I don’t actually want to fix (lol)! While I love to give in to my sweet tooth, I hate the baking process. I’ve seen people making all these Keto-friendly goodies on Instagram and I want to give it a try. Yet, once begin, I quickly remember why I don’t bake. It’s too much work, easy to mess up, and then waiting for it to bake is even more annoying!

I tried my hand at baking a keto pound cake.  It called for all the usual stuff – eggs, milk, butter, etc…and almond flour. I didn’t have almond flour, but I had coconut flour. So, I subbed it out. No big deal, right? WRONG! I couldn’t have been more wrong. Apparently, coconut flour is denser than other flours so you only need to use a fraction of the amount. Well, I didn’t know before I started pouring it in! My cake batter turned quickly from a smooth creamy batter to a lumpy dry mess. Thankfully I poured the flour into the other ingredients in intervals and stopped before it was absolutely too late.  But if you know me you know I was not going to waste all these ingredients so I still put it in a pan and put it in the oven.  Can I tell you, that was the worst 45 minutes?  The worst.

My usual impatience with waiting for things to bake was coupled with the anxiety of if this thing would even be edible. Thankfully, I can say after those torturous 45 minutes the cake was a bit dry but still good!

I shared this story with you to make a crucial point: Trusting the wait is major.  Trusting that everything you’ve put into that dream—the prayers, the work, the faithfulness, and even trusting through failure—is pretty hard.

But God is faithful.

I love the story of Joseph’s life. He dreamed that his parents and family would bow down to him. That dream became reality but only after years of torture and strife. This man even went to prison for a crime he didn’t commit.  Now I’m not saying we will have to go to prison but, I am saying there is a journey to be had. We may use the wrong flour when baking and have no idea what’s going to come out in the end but the beautiful thing about it all is that it ALWAYS works together for our good.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.”

Romans 8:28 (ESV)

Your journey, it’s a journey where there have been and will be ups and downs. But remember all of it comes together for good. The things meant for evil will turn out well. It all comes together to fulfill the great call He has placed on your life. So, trust the wait. Trust that you heard right. Trust through failure and look for the good to come!
